President's Award for the Best Startup 2026
July 29, 2026
Algeria has reached a new milestone in the development of its entrepreneurial ecosystem with the launch of the first edition of the President's Award for the Best Startup.
More than just a competition, this initiative reflects the country's strong commitment to fostering innovation, recognizing entrepreneurs who create value, and highlighting businesses that actively contribute to the diversification of the national economy.
Over the past few years, Algeria has introduced several initiatives to support innovative entrepreneurs, including the Innovative Project Label, the Startup Label, and, more recently, the Scale-up Label. The President's Award builds on this momentum by recognizing startups and companies that transform innovative ideas into businesses with meaningful economic, technological, and social impact.
Beyond the financial reward, the award represents a prestigious national recognition for entrepreneurs who are helping shape Algeria's economy of tomorrow.
Innovation does not stop at launching a startup. To reflect the different stages of entrepreneurial growth, the competition recognizes excellence across three categories.
Prize: 3,000,000 DZD
Awarded to companies that have demonstrated sustained growth, scalable business models, and a strong commitment to continuous innovation.
Prize: 2,000,000 DZD
This category recognizes startups that have successfully transformed innovative ideas into viable businesses with measurable impact.
Prize: 1,000,000 DZD
Designed for project holders developing innovative solutions with strong commercial potential.
Through these three categories, the competition aims to encourage innovation at every stage of the entrepreneurial journey—from the earliest ideas to companies ready to scale nationally and internationally.
The eligibility requirements are simple.
To participate, applicants must hold a valid label issued by Algeria's National Labeling Committee (Comité National de Labellisation).
Eligible applicants must hold one of the following:
✔ Innovative Project Label
✔ Startup Label
✔ Scale-up Label
If your label has expired or your application is still under review, you will need to regularize your status before submitting your application.
Applications are now officially open.
Here are the key milestones:
✔ Application deadline: 23 August 2026
✔ Evaluation period: September to October 2026
✔ Winners announced: November 2026 during Global Entrepreneurship Week
Throughout the evaluation period, expert committees will assess applications based on several criteria, including innovation, execution, and overall impact.
The financial prizes are certainly attractive.
However, the real value of the President's Award goes far beyond the prize money.
✔ Being selected or even being recognized among the strongest applicants can help entrepreneurs:
✔ Strengthen their credibility with investors;
✔ Increase visibility among institutional and strategic partners;
✔ Build greater trust with customers;
✔ Attract highly qualified talent;
✔ Enhance their company's reputation within Algeria's innovation ecosystem.
✔ National recognition can also become a powerful asset when raising capital, expanding into new markets, or building international partnerships.
✔ A successful application is about much more than presenting an innovative idea.
✔ Evaluation committees are looking for entrepreneurs who can demonstrate their ability to turn vision into measurable results.
✔ Before submitting your application, make sure you can clearly answer these four essential questions.
Explain the challenge your solution addresses and why solving it matters.
Describe what differentiates your product, service, or technology from existing alternatives and why your competitive advantage is difficult to replicate.
Support your application with measurable indicators such as:
✔ Customer growth;
✔ Revenue growth;
✔ Jobs created;
✔ Social or environmental impact;
✔ Strategic partnerships;
✔ Expansion into new markets.
Concrete evidence will always make a stronger impression than broad statements.
The jury is interested not only in what your company has achieved today, but also where you plan to take it over the next three to five years.
A clear, ambitious, and realistic roadmap demonstrates long-term leadership and strategic thinking.
Before finalizing your application, take the time to review the essentials.
✔ Confirm that your label is still valid.
✔ Update your company presentation and pitch deck.
✔ Prepare reliable business metrics and supporting evidence.
✔ Highlight tangible achievements rather than general claims.
✔ Clearly explain how your innovation contributes to Algeria's economic development.
The strongest applications combine compelling storytelling with measurable business results.
The launch of the President's Award reinforces Algeria's commitment to making innovation a key driver of economic development.
It sends a powerful message: startup success is no longer measured solely by launching a business, but by building sustainable companies that create jobs, attract investment, develop innovative solutions, and generate long-term impact.
By celebrating entrepreneurial success, the initiative also inspires a new generation of founders to think bigger, innovate further, and build companies capable of shaping Algeria's future economy.
Winning the President's Award for the Best Startup would undoubtedly be a remarkable achievement.
Yet, regardless of the outcome, preparing an application is already a valuable strategic exercise.
It gives founders an opportunity to reflect on their journey, evaluate their progress, measure their impact, and refine their long-term vision. These are essential skills—not only for convincing a jury, but also for engaging investors, strategic partners, and future customers.
At Leancubator, we believe that the strongest startups are those that regularly assess where they stand, define where they want to go, and prepare for the next stage of growth.
After all, recognition is earned through preparation—and preparation begins long before an application is submitted.
