As environmental pressures and economic constraints intensify, the circular economy is emerging as an essential development model.  It offers a break from the traditional linear model (extract, produce, consume, dispose), moving toward a more efficient, sustainable, and localized system.

Reinventing growth in a world of limited resources

Circular economy is not just about recycling more, it's about designing products, services, and business models that limit resource extraction, maximize use, and reduce ecological impact.

In a world marked by resource scarcity, energy price volatility, and rising environmental expectations, countries that leverage local resources and clean technologies will be best positioned for the future.

A challenge of independence and competitiveness for Algeria

In Algeria, the circular economy represents a real opportunity to create local value chains, strengthen industrial sovereignty, and generate employment in innovative sectors: agri-food, construction, textiles, plastics, and more.

With strong potential in waste recovery, eco-design, repair, and reuse, circularity can become a pillar of economic diversification and a direct response to the expectations of younger generations.

Open innovation driving the circular transition

Solutions will not come from a single actor. That’s why open innovation, this collaborative approach between corporations, startups, researchers, and institutions, is essential to accelerating the transition.

Startups, young innovators, and circular SMEs all play a key role in co-creating sustainable models. By opening up to these collaborations, companies can tap into fresh ideas, test new models, and solve concrete challenges on the ground.

The Greentech Challenge returns for a 4th edition

In this spirit, the 4th edition of the Greentech Challenge, organized in partnership with BNP Paribas El Djazair, stands out as a major initiative to accelerate circular innovation in Algeria.

This program aims to identify, support, and showcase startups and innovative projects actively contributing to a greener, more resource-efficient, and inclusive economy.
