For any startup, protecting an innovation is just as important as developing it. Intellectual property is not simply a legal matter for entrepreneurs; it is also a strategic tool that can help secure ideas, strengthen market positioning, and support long-term growth.

This was the focus of Day 2 of the Learning & Immersion Days, organized as part of the 8th edition of the Algeria Startup Challenge 2026.

Through the “IP Introduction & Strategy for Startups” workshop, our startups had the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of intellectual property and understand its importance throughout the startup journey.

The session was delivered by INAPI DZ and led by Ms. Hanane HACHEMI, Head of the Innovation Promotion Department at INAPI, who shared her expertise and engaged directly with the entrepreneurs throughout the session.

The objective was clear: help startups identify their innovative assets, understand the different protection mechanisms available to them, and, most importantly, recognize intellectual property as part of their broader business strategy from the early stages of development.

For a startup, an innovation can quickly become one of its most valuable assets. A brand, invention, design, technology, or piece of know-how can represent significant value for a growing company.

But that value needs to be protected.

Intellectual property can help entrepreneurs turn innovation into protected and valuable business assets, while reducing the risks associated with imitation or unauthorized use.

Beyond protection, a well-structured IP strategy can also strengthen a startup’s credibility with potential partners, investors, and customers.

The session gave participants the opportunity to ask questions, engage directly with an IP expert, and gain a clearer understanding of how intellectual property can be integrated into their growth strategy.

This is at the heart of the Learning & Immersion Days: providing entrepreneurs with the knowledge, tools, and practical reflexes they need to build stronger, better-structured startups that are ready to scale.

A sincere thank you to Ms. Hanane HACHEMI for sharing her expertise, her time, and for the quality of the exchanges throughout the session.

And this is only the beginning! Stay tuned for the upcoming Learning & Immersion Days sessions.
