Biofertech at MACFRUT 2025: Growing a Mediterranean Future Rooted in Innovation
May 8, 2025
At Leancubator, we have the privilege of supporting startups that don’t just dream of impact, they deliver it. Among them is Biofertech, a purpose-driven Algerian startup that’s transforming agriculture through science, circular economy principles, and cross-border cooperation.
Biofertech is an agro-environmental startup specializing in regenerative soil solutions, biological inputs, and precision agriculture services tailored to arid and semi-arid regions. Its mission is to restore soil health, boost agricultural productivity, and accelerate the green transition in North Africa and the Mediterranean through science-based, eco-friendly technologies.
From May 6 to 8, 2025, Biofertech made a powerful statement at MACFRUT2025 Rimini, one of Europe’s premier agriculture and agri-tech trade fairs. This mission wasn't just about visibility, it was about building strategic bridges across the Mediterranean.
And we are proud to say: Leancubator had the honor of working with Biofertech and watching its vision come to life on the international stage.
A key milestone was the business agreement with Agricultura Di Carlino R & C. s.a.s, a Sicilian company aligned with Biofertech’s regenerative agriculture vision. This partnership marks the entry of Biofertech’s soil conditioners into the Sicilian market, a major step in sustainable cooperation between Algeria and Italy.
In parallel, Biofertech is scaling its impact in Algeria, partnering with the Chambers of Agriculture of Tiaret and Ghardaïa. Together, they are launching projects to regenerate soil, increase productivity, and position these regions as green innovation hubs.
Biofertech was warmly received by Mme Zidi Meriem, Algeria’s Consul General in Milan, who reaffirmed her commitment to supporting Algerian startups driving green growth and international collaboration. Her support sends a strong message: Algerian innovation belongs on the global stage.
The startup also deepened its scientific engagement with CIHEAM Bari, a key Mediterranean research institution. Together, they’re co-designing carbon farming programs in Algeria, combining science, policy, and local action to turn degraded land into climate-positive assets.
The founder of Biofertech, Mr. Ounas Rostom, also met with Mr. Gottfried Pessl, CEO of METOS, a global leader in smart agricultural technologies. This dialogue paves the way for joint precision agriculture projects, particularly in Saharan regions where Biofertech’s expertise is especially valuable.
The goal? Deliver climate-resilient, tech-enabled agriculture that empowers farmers and strengthens food systems in Algeria.
We’ve had the honor of working side by side with Biofertech, supporting its growth journey, and watching it become a bridge between tradition and technology, North and South, science and impact.
Biofertech is more than a startup, it’s a catalyst for sustainable change across the Mediterranean. And at Leancubator, we’re proud to be part of this journey.
