Investment Facilitation, Decent Work, and Sustainable Development
June 14, 2024
As part of our significant commitment to the dynamics of sustainable development in the Mediterranean, we are delighted to share some highlights from our participation in the week of advanced training on "Facilitation of Investments, Decent Work, and Sustainable Development." This event was organized by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), supported by German Development Cooperation (GIZ), and in partnership with the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO), from June 11 to 14, 2024, in Turin, Italy.
During this week, we discussed strategies and best practices to channel foreign direct investments (FDI) towards sustainable development and decent work. We also examined the changing implications of the German supply chain for IPAs, the policy frameworks related to investment facilitation, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the impact of corporate sustainability due diligence directives such as CBAM and CSDDD on FDIs.
It was an enriching week of sharing experiences, networking, and learning, with representatives from investment promotion agencies (IPAs), relevant ministries, and business support organizations from across the Mediterranean region.
